The 2nd Anglo-American Studies Roundtable at Anglo-American University

The and the School of International Relations and Diplomacy invite proposals for the second annual Roundtable in Anglo-American Studies.

The theme of this year鈥檚 event is 鈥淭he UK and the World鈥. With Brexit finally bringing down the curtain on forty years鈥 intimate political and economic association with much of Continental Europe, it has never been more opportune to consider Britain鈥檚 complex and ambiguous relationships with the wider world. This roundtable aims to bring together a range of scholars from across the disciplines to engage with the problem of Britain as a global actor, from imperial and post-imperial ties with the former Empire to the 鈥楽pecial Relationship鈥 with the USA; from 鈥榓wkward partner鈥 of the European project to the contemporary mantra of 鈥楪lobal Britain鈥. All relevant perspectives: political, economic, cultural and more will be considered.

We welcome proposals for 20-minute papers dealing with any topic or time period within this broad thematic framework, from the fields of the humanities, social sciences, and International Relations. The roundtable will take place in the historic surroundings of the Anglo-American University campus between the Charles Bridge and Prague Castle.

Each presentation will be followed by a reaction from a discussant; for this reason, we require each presenter to send a 2,000-word version of their paper at least four weeks before the event.

DEADLINES & CONTACTS:

Abstracts of 200鈥250 words, with a brief bio, should be sent to the appropriate contacts by June 30, 2021:

We look forward to receiving your submissions!
