BANGI, 20 December 2025 – Kolej Ibu Zain (KIZ) recently hosted the Debate 101 workshop to foster a culture of intellectual discourse among students. The session focused on transforming beginners into confident speakers capable of handling complex academic arguments.
Supporting Quality Education via SDG 4 The workshop aligns with SDG 4 (Quality Education) by providing students with essential soft skills that enhance their academic performance. Throughout the day, participants engaged in several high-impact learning activities.
First, student debaters underwent intensive public speaking training. These sessions focused on improving English proficiency and self-confidence under the guidance of senior university debaters. Second, the program featured technical briefings on argument construction. Participants learned how to perform quick-thinking and critical analysis, which are vital for academic excellence. Finally, the event included debate simulations to prepare participants for the 2026 Deputy Vice-Chancellor’s Debate Cup.
Empowering Future Leaders The initiative successfully upskilled 35 participants, helping them develop the tools necessary for effective communication. By mastering these soft skills, students are now better equipped for both their current studies and future professional careers.
Conclusion The Debate 101 workshop successfully realized the goals of SDG 4 by fostering a culture of brainstorming and critical inquiry. Kolej Ibu Zain remains committed to providing platforms that build competitive and global-standard graduates.
