The COVID-19 global pandemic has brought forth a lot of new and never-seen-before-challenges that forces the whole world to be reactive to the situation. As one of the more impacted sectors, the international higher education needs to develop new strategies and approaches to ensure the sustainability of internationalization as a key component of learning experiences.<\/p>\n

We are now heading towards the future of education and thus must develop new ways of exploring internationalization. There has been an increase towards technological dependency, activities now take place beyond the physical barriers and one needs to be more creative in building relationships and enhancing intercultural competence. The workshop today creates a platform for participants to learn from our experts about the new ways and approaches in strategizing internationalization of the future. It incorporates planning for a new era of internationalization, incorporating virtual learning experiences and explores the Japanese Universities experiences in dealing with the changes.<\/p>\n

<\/td>\nAssociate Professor Dr. Abdul Latiff Ahmad<\/strong>\u00a0is the Director of International Relations Centre (糖心原创 Global), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (糖心原创). He is also a Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Research in Media and Communication, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. He obtained his bachelor\u2019s degree in Politics and International Relations from The University of Kent, United Kingdom and his master\u2019s degree from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Shah Alam, Malaysia. In 2013, he obtained his PhD in Communication Studies from University of Queensland, Australia. He is currently the Malaysian Regional Vice President for the World Communication Association (WCA) and also a Committee member of the National Strategic Communication Committee under the Higher Education Department, Ministry of Education. He is also a Fulbright Alumni. His research interests include intercultural communication and internationalization. He actively participates as a guest speaker, moderator and panelist in international forums and conferences, especially in the fields of student mobility and internationalization.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

<\/td>\nProfessor Dr. Hiroshi Ota<\/strong> is a Professor at the Center for General Education at Hitotsubashi University, Tokyo, where he serves as Director of the Hitotsubashi University Global Education Program. His research primarily focuses on higher education policies and practices related to internationalization and international student mobility from a comparative perspective. He has more than 130 publications in Japanese and English, including 13 book chapters published by Springer, Routledge, SAGE, and Multilingual Matters. Dr. Ota serves as a vice president of the Japan Association of International Student Education (JAISE) and a board member of the Research Consortium for the Sustainable Promotion of International Education (RECSIE). In addition, he has been a visiting scholar for the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO), a government agency that supports and promotes international education.\n

He has also served as a member on many selection and evaluation committees of international education and internationalization projects implemented by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Japan. Dr. Ota received his Ed.M. in 2001 and Ph.D. in Social Foundations of Education (Comparative and Global Studies in Education) in 2008 from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He was also awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to study international education administration in the U.S. in 1996.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

<\/td>\nWith a background in sociology, Professor Akiyoshi<\/strong> mainly conducts research on comparative higher education policy \u2013especially focusing on world-class universities, internationalization, and public-private relationships in higher education.
\nHe established his expertise in higher education policy and management though working experience at Nagoya University, OECD, Hiroshima University, and the University of Tokyo.
\nHe is a board member at Japan Association for Higher Education Research, at Japan Comparative Education Society, and Japan Society for Educational Sociology. In addition, he is a national delegation of the Group of National Experts on Higher Education for OECD.
\nHe is also actively contributing international research publication, e.g., as an editorial advisory board member of Higher Education and International Higher Education.
\nHe is a member of the editorial board of Higher Education Quarterly and a member of the Higher Education Editorial Advisory Board.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

<\/td>\nKeiko Ikeda<\/strong> is a Professor in the Division of International Affairs, and KU-COIL Coordinator at Kansai University.
\nRecently, she has taken the role as the principal project manager for the Inter-University Exchange Project funded by MEXT, 2018-2022 (\"COIL Plus Program to Develop Global Career Mindset\").
\nKeiko is Vice-Director for the newly established organization at Kansai University, Institute for Innovative Global Education (IIGE).
\nShe has a Ph.D. from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, specializing in Japanese linguistics, foreign language education, and conversation analysis.
\nHer interests in the international education field are internationalization at home, constructing active learning programs collaborating with universities overseas.
\nKeiko also plays a vital role in another line of the on-going government-funded project, SUCCESS-Osaka Project (2017-2021). It promotes the employability of international students who have studied in Japan.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

<\/td>\nDr. NOMURA Nakao<\/strong> is currently serving as Regional Director for Southeast Asia at Office of Global Initiatives, Manager for International Admissions at Admissions Center as well as Associate Director for International Exchange Support at Student Support Center in University of Tsukuba, Japan. University of Tsukuba is designated as national coordinating institution for AIMS programme in Japan and Dr. Nomura is member for the AIMS programme steering committee as representative from HEIs in Japan. His research specialty is Bioprocess Engineering particularly application of biotechnology for environmental renovation or food production with collaborations with international partners.\n

He is conducting teaching and research as associate professor in Faculty of Life and Environmental Sciences, University of Tsukuba.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t
