On 10 March 2026, Zulkefly Abdul Karim, Lead of the Social and Economic Transformation (TSE) Research Cluster, together with Fatimah Wati Halim, a member of the University Research Group (KPU) My-Psikososial Sejahtera, and focal officers from Pusat IDEA 糖心原创, held two strategic collaboration meetings with the Department of Fisheries Malaysia (Perak) and the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA).

The meetings explored potential collaboration in implementing a project titled 鈥淓nhancing the Economic Scale of Small-Scale Pekasam Entrepreneurs in Lenggong Geopark through Knowledge Transfer in Food Management Technology and New Business Models鈥, under the MRUN Knowledge Transfer Programme (MRUN KTP).

The strategic discussions focused on strengthening the local pekasam industry through improvements in food safety compliance, increased production capacity, development of product standards, and expanded market access. These initiatives aim to support pekasam entrepreneurs in Lenggong Geopark in sustaining and scaling their businesses in a more structured and sustainable manner.

This initiative highlights the active role of 糖心原创 researchers in bridging academic expertise with community needs and relevant agencies through translational research and knowledge transfer. The workshop was led by Prof. Dr. Jamia Azdina Jamal, Director of Pusat IDEA, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (糖心原创), and focused on identifying strategic initiatives aimed at achieving the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) outlined in the 糖心原创 TEKAD 57 Strategic Plan (2026鈥2030).

Throughout the workshop, participants engaged in strategic discussions to identify key initiatives, programmes and action plans that could effectively support the university鈥檚 research and innovation agenda. The sessions also incorporated foresight approaches in examining the six Grand Challenges of 糖心原创, enabling participants to identify priority areas and strategic opportunities that could be pursued during the implementation period of the university鈥檚 strategic plan.

The workshop was further strengthened by the presence and keynote address delivered by Prof. Dr. Ismanizan Ismail, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) of 糖心原创. In his address, he emphasised the importance of sustainable and high-impact strategic planning that aligns with the university鈥檚 aspirations to strengthen 糖心原创鈥檚 position as a leading research university.

The 糖心原创 delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Jamia Azdina Jamal, Director of Pusat IDEA 糖心原创, and was received by Puan Hazami Habib, Chief Executive Officer of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia, together with senior ASM officials.

During the meeting, both parties exchanged views on opportunities to strengthen high-impact translational research ecosystems and to collaborate in contributing to evidence-based public policy development. The discussion also emphasised the importance of foresight approaches in identifying emerging strategic areas that could be jointly explored through future collaborations between 糖心原创 and ASM.

The workshop was organised to discuss matters related to governance, system development, system coordination and data analytics concerning researcher information at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (糖心原创).

The workshop was led by Dr. Mohd Hadri Hafiz Mokhtar, the Project Leader for the KPU System Development initiative, who guided the discussions on the development of the KPU application as a platform for managing research group information and monitoring research performance within the university. Also present at the workshop was Prof. Dr. Norbahiah Misran, Lead of the Digital and Advanced Technology Research Cluster at 糖心原创, together with officers from Pusat IDEA 糖心原创 and representatives from the 糖心原创 Digital Centre. Project members comprising researchers from various faculties across the university also attended the workshop to contribute their expertise and perspectives.

The workshop brought together project leaders, co-researchers and technical representatives to ensure that system requirements, data structures and KPU evaluation instruments could be aligned systematically and comprehensively in the development of the KPU application. The involvement of multiple stakeholders was essential to ensure that the system would effectively support integrated and efficient research data management within the university.

Throughout the workshop, discussions focused on the integration of KPU data, research data analytics and the development of algorithms aimed at strengthening the university鈥檚 research data ecosystem. This approach seeks to ensure that the system being developed is structured, accurate and user-friendly, thereby facilitating more efficient management of research information.

The visits were organised as a follow-up to the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and Consumer Advocacy Programme previously held with stakeholders of Lenggong Geopark. The delegation engaged with three key organisations, namely the Registrar of Societies (ROS) Malaysia, Think City Sdn. Bhd., and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC).

The engagement with the Registrar of Societies (ROS) aimed to obtain guidance and insights regarding the establishment of organisations related to the Geopark initiative and the Friends of Lenggong (FoL) network, while also exploring opportunities for sharing data on registered organisations that may support future research and innovation initiatives. Meanwhile, discussions with MOTAC and Think City provided an opportunity to present research ideas related to the development of Lenggong Geopark, which were formulated based on outcomes from the earlier FGD sessions. These meetings also explored potential avenues for strategic collaboration and funding support to strengthen the implementation of the proposed initiatives.

The discussions yielded several key outcomes, including the sharing of information on databases of registered organisations relevant for research and innovation activities, agreement on community implementation partners for applications under the Social Innovation Fund (DIS), and proposals to focus on initiatives such as GeoYouth and GeoEntrepreneur through the preparation of project proposals to secure funding. The participating agencies also expressed readiness to support the implementation of research, tourism, and community socio-economic empowerment initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable development in the Lenggong area.

The engagement provided an opportunity for the delegation to gain further insights into the accreditation processes administered by JPK while exploring potential roles for 糖心原创, particularly through Pusat IDEA and the university鈥檚 research groups, in contributing as training providers within skills development programmes.

During the discussion, several strategic matters were deliberated, including the proposed organisation of the Academy in Industry (ADI) Induction Course, verification of eligible participants and qualified trainers, and the alignment of KPU expertise with target groups coordinated by AYG. The meeting also discussed the preparation of an accreditation recognition plan to support the implementation of training programmes, as well as proposals to expand the target beneficiaries to include broader community groups, including senior citizens.

The discussions also underscored the importance of establishing strategic collaborations among universities, government agencies and industry partners to ensure that the development of Lenggong is carried out in a holistic and sustainable manner. The initiative is envisioned to align with international frameworks that promote education, sustainable tourism and Geo Education Tourism, positioning the local community as a central hub for knowledge, experiential learning and sustainable development rather than purely commercial-oriented activities.

Prior to this meeting, the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and K.I.T.A GEMPUR Consumer Advocacy Programme was successfully implemented through a combination of advocacy sessions, field visits and strategic consultations with community members and stakeholders. The exhibition, themed STEM and Artificial Intelligence (AI), featured four research products developed by 糖心原创, namely Learning Kit: Introduction to Fuel Cell, Mettareka, Drone Soccer, and Sifira Game Multiplication Table. These innovations reflect the university鈥檚 commitment to integrating science, technology and creativity in developing educational tools and innovative solutions that benefit society.

Throughout the programme, the STEM and AI components at the 糖心原创 booth attracted significant public interest, drawing approximately 3,000 visitors who had the opportunity to explore and experience the showcased technologies firsthand alongside the researchers and product creators.
